Your RAs

Your Resident Assistants (RAs) are SBCC students who are trained for over eight weeks to assist you with many of your day-to-day needs and college survival skills. RAs wear a lot of hats. They are a “been-there, done-that” source of information about SBCC and the community. They are our community’s “cruise directors,” planning social, recreational and educational events. They also help keep the peace, so you have a study-friendly atmosphere.

Erika B, Barbados, Residence Director

Erika, a native of Pleasanton, California, is majoring in Communications at SBCC. Her hobbies include SBCC Volleyball, crafts and playing piano. A random fact about Erika is that she snorts when she laughs.

Shane W, St. Croix, Residence Director

Shane is a UCSB Economics & Accounting major from Saugus, California. His hobbies are soccer, snowboarding and playing guitar. A random fact about Shane is that he can clap using only one hand and nothing else. He also claims to be the best FIFA player on Xbox that he has ever come across. Feel free to challenge Shane on either of these!

Annie J, Martinique

Annie, from Pleasanton, California, is attending SBCC and majoring in Accounting. Her hobbies are cheerleading and diving. A random fact about Annie is that she is allergic to most metals, so she can't wear jewelry.

Austin F, Cayman

Austin is a second year student at UCSB majoring in Physics, from Chino, California.  In his spare time he is an avid runner and tennis player.  A random fact about Austin is that he has three little sisters.

Betty G, Cayman

Betty is a UCSB Sociology major from Greenfield, California. Her hobbies include arts & crafts. A random fact about Betty is that she makes fish faces a lot. Just ask to see one!

Carolyn B, Martinique

Carolyn is a SBCC student majoring in Theatre Arts.  She calls Palo Alto, California her home.  Some of her hobbies include having game nights, going on road trips, and baking delicious desserts.  A random fact about Carolyn is that she loves The Hunger Games and Disneyland!

Chris M, St. Lucia

Chris is an SBCC business major from Monroe, Louisiana. Chris loves sports, singing and hanging with friends. He thinks life is a marathon and not a sprint. A random fact about Chris: the first professional basketball game he attended was a Lakers game.

Jane W, Barbados

Jane is a second year student at SBCC majoring in Communications.  She was born and raised in Kloof, South Africa.  Some of her favorite things include playing various sports, performing, hiking, relaxing on the beach, and listening to music.  A random fact about Jane is that she loves to sing in the shower.

Ryan F, Barbados

Ryan is a New Orleans native, majoring in Political Science at Santa Barbara City College. Ryan loves soccer, hockey, skateboarding, music, FC Barcelona and having a good time. A random fact about Ryan is that he attended a boarding prep school in Boston.

McKinley M, St. Croix

McKinley is a second year at Santa Barbara City College studying Business. Originally from Menlo Park, California -- better known as Silicon Valley, The Bay Area, The Yay, or Norcal -- McKinley is an avid SF Giants fan. For fun he loves to play sports, specifically basketball, golf and table tennis (sometimes better known as ping pong by amateurs.)

Sean T, St. Croix

Sean is a second year student at SBCC majoring in international business.  He is from San Francisco, California.  Some of his hobbies include playing sports, traveling, and spending time with his mom.  Some random facts about Sean is that he has been skydiving twice, he speaks Japanese, and he loves to play chess.

Yarim J, St. Lucia

Yarim (Yari) is an Sbcc student majoring is Psychology. She calls Fresno her home, where she loves to cook with her mom. She loves spending time with her very large, but amazing family. Her dream is to go back to her high school and be a special education teacher.
