Student Life

At Tropicana Gardens it’s easy to meet people. Our Res Life Team organizes dozens of events every month like the Art Museum Tour, Betta Fish Adoption, Big Bear Ski Trip, Bike to Downtown, Biggest Loser Winner, BBQs and Bonfires, Blood Drive, Bowling, Disneyland, Farmers Market, Halloween Costume Contests, Henna Tattoos, Hiking, Holiday Cookie Decorating, Hypnotist Show, Jewelry Making, Kayaking, Movie Nights, Mustache March, Open Mic Night, Paint a Canvas, Pie Eating Contest, Ping-Pong Tournaments, Polar Bear Plunge, Pool Parties, Pro Football Kickoff Night, Pumpkin Carving, Quad Wars, Rock Climbing, Slacklining, Superbowl Party, Surfing Lessons, Soccer, Tr’Oscars, Ultimate Frisbee, Valentine card making, Wheeler Gorge Camping Trip, and Zoo Visits, to name just a few!

As a resident, you’re automatically a member of the Tropicana Student Organization (TSO), which organizes the 300+ community activities, quad gatherings, and individual floor meetings annually. Be as involved as you want to be. All residents are invited to participate in TSO and run for positions such as President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and quad representatives at the beginning of the year.

In addition to the planned activities, there are countless fun things to do in Isla Vista on your own. With the beaches only a ten minute walk away you can try surfing, paddle boarding, kayaking, or just lay on the warm sand for some peace and quiet.
